We are pleased to be a part of the first annual Montavilla Jazz Festival, taking place August 16 and 17, 2014, in the Montavilla neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The mission of the Montavilla Jazz Festival is to showcase the vibrant new sounds of Portland jazz. Featuring a diverse lineup of thirteen cutting-edge bands, the festival is unique in that it focuses entirely on originally composed jazz created by Portland-based artists.

Announcing our CD Release Party on Friday February 4, 2011 at The Globe on SE Belmont in Portland (details). The show starts at 9PM and is free. We will be selling our new CD at the show (we can take plastic!). It should be a good one: lots of tunes from the album plus at least 4 new tunes slated for the next CD, and a couple of Bill Frisell and Herbie Hancock tunes to round out the set. The Globe is a nice spot to hang and listen to music, they have a full bar, some nice brews on tap and a full menu (the pizza is fantastic!). We’ll see you there!
The trio is currently in the process of recording our first record at Geare Music Studios in St. Johns. Riley Geare is engineering the project and Neil Mattson is wearing the producer’s hat. Trio Flux is committed to recording the entire project live, without cuts, edits, overdubs (exception: chords on Snake Bit takes 1 and 2), and with minimal digital plug-ins. Our hope is to have the record completed by the end of this summer. I’m posting some of our takes from sessions on March 13th, and May 5th, 2010 here.
