Announcing our CD Release Party on Friday February 4, 2011 at The Globe on SE Belmont in Portland (details).  The show starts at 9PM and is free.  We will be selling our new CD at the show (we can take plastic!).  It should be a good one: lots of tunes from the album plus at least 4 new tunes slated for the next CD, and a couple of Bill Frisell and Herbie Hancock tunes to round out the set.  The Globe is a nice spot to hang and listen to music, they have a full bar, some nice brews on tap and a full menu (the pizza is fantastic!).  We’ll see you there!

Tonight is the last chance to catch Trio Flux in May as one our esteemed members is running off to get married the next day. Actually the wedding is in a week or so but I guess a wedding takes some preparation.  If you haven’t heard us in a month, or heck even if you heard us last Friday at Langano, you should check this show out!  We have a bunch of new material that is getting tighter, and tighter.  Unfortunately, we won’t be playing my newest (written yesterday) tune, Space Garbage, because we haven’t had a chance to rehearse it yet.  But don’t fret, you’ll get to witness a near debut (second time) of Cage Free, a new version of Quadrado Um, and the rest…can’t wait!  See you down there!!!

Trio Flux – hidden, but worth hearing

by Mark Niemann-Ross on April 3, 2010

Portland has great jazz hidden all over town, and available for your cheap (or free) listening pleasure. You just have to hear about it from a friend, and then show up. Here’s your first tip – go see Trio Flux with Neil Mattson on guitar, Adam Ochshorn on drums, and Julio Appling on bass. Read more…
